MP3 of the Day

The Swedish band Pillow recorded a number of songs in the 90s, but only released one 7″, a CD ep, and a single compilation track. The majority of their output never saw a proper release, that is until now. The indiepop label Jigsaw Records just released a 22-track collection that compiles the best songs from the band’s unreleased material titled Learning To Labour. Today we have Monday Suit by Pillow. The CD is available on the Jigsaw Records website – and it’s only $5.

MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1948 Kentucky Air National Guard pilot, Thomas Mantell crashed his P-51 Mustang while in pursuit of a supposed UFO. The case marked a sharp shift in both public and governmental perceptions of UFOs. Previously, the media often treated UFO reports as silly news. However, following Mantell’s death public concern dramatically increased about the phenomenon. Today we have The U.F.O. Man by Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers. Happy Friday!

The song reached #1 in the UK on April 24, 1959 and remained in the top slot for three weeks becoming the first posthumous #1 hit UK chart history.
