MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1967 the Monkees performed in Seattle, WA. On this same day in Belleville, Illinois, Jeff Tweedy, from the band Wilco was born . In 2007 Tweedy said: “I’ve definitely felt inspired by all of the musicians I’ve been able to play with in Wilco, but in terms of finding a perfect scenario of living with and interacting with a band – on the road, and in the studio – this is a new feeling for me. If we all lived together, it would be like the Monkees.” Today we have the song Randy Scouse Git by the Monkees.

The Seattle show (as well as Spokane and Portland) was recorded for a live LP which never happened, though 20 years later Rhino did release some of the recordings as “Live 67”. There’s also the 2001 Rhino Handmade set of the complete recordings which seems like maybe too much Monkees, even for me.
