We’re in the studio!

After a hiatus that has lasted nearly three years, Tullycraft has begun the process of recording a new album. It’s been a long time since we’ve recorded a record, so we’re currently trying to remember how to do it. More details will follow as the process moves forward. Thanks for listening!

Tweet of the Day

A few years back (2006 to be exact) Chris (tullycraft) and our good friend Roshan debuted their Art Brut franchise band at a small talent show in Shelton, WA. Well, today Eddie Argos (lead singer of Art Brut) tweeted: “Definitely have to start a Tullycraft franchise now.”

Thank you Eddie!

MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1986, New Order played at Winter Gardens in Malvern, England. The audience was treated to an encore jam of the Velvet Underground’s ‘Sister Ray’ with the Happy Mondays. The encore was a nod to the Joy Division / Section 25 performance at the same venue six years earlier. Today we have Perfect Pit from The Perfect Kiss 12″ released in 1985.

Hey! The band iji is looking for some help releasing their 10th full length album (wait… their 10th full length album?! – the Beatles only released 11 studio albums). That seems kinda crazy to me, but I guess we can blame Garageband for this sort of thing. If you’re into the mellow, Caribbean vibe that iji delivers, check out their Kickstarter page and contribute to the cause. Today we have a song called Drums From Thunder from the currently unreleased iji album Yerself. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Cartoonist and Tullycraft friend, Jake Rohdy has a new website featuring some of his comics. He’s been posting five hand drawn comics a week. Be there or be square!

Fishboy was in Seattle last night and they performed their entire new album (minus one song) Classic Creeps. It was a terrific show. If you haven’t heard the new Fishboy album you can pick-up a copy from HHBTM Records. Today we have the song Adrian Simmons from Classic Creeps. Enjoy!

MP3 of the Day

On this day in 1925 the New York Sun published a story about the discovery of life on the Moon. The discovery was supposedly made by Sir John Herschel, perhaps the best-known astronomer of his time. The article described a population of winged humanoids and fantastic animals living on the Moon. This, of course, was an elaborate hoax and some readers doubted it from the beginning. But many believed the article and the New York Sun’s circulation increased dramatically. The story was not discovered to be a hoax until several weeks after its publication and, even then, the newspaper did not issue a retraction. Today we have a demo version of the song Circles ‘Round the Moon by Nana Grizol.

On this day…

Tensions had been building within The Beatles for some time during the recording of the White Album, and on this day in 1968 Ringo Starr officially quit the band. He immediately went on a Mediterranean cruise to clear his head. On the trip he was inspired to write the song “Octopus’s Garden.” Eleven days later (on September 3), Ringo returned to Abbey Road studios where he found his bandmates had covered his drum kit in flowers. Ringo officially rejoined the band that same day – just in time to record “Hey Jude.” Because of his absence, Ringo didn’t appear on the songs “Back in the USSR” or “Dear Prudence.”

On this day in 1967 the New York Times reported on a new noise-reduction system for records and tapes pioneered by the Dolby brothers. Drummers everywhere panned the system as a cymbal killer. Today we have The Party by Folklore.
