MP3 of the Day
On this day in 2002 Tullycraft played an 18 song set (perhaps our longest ever) at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard, WA. Chris broke five guitar strings during the performance, which I think may stand as a personal record. Today we have a live recording of the song Wild Bikini.

Yoko Ono will be in Reykjavik, Iceland to light up the Imagine Peace Tower tomorrow night. The tower is lit each year from October 9, John Lennon’s birthday, through December 8, the date he was shot. The Tower consists of 15 searchlights with prisms that act as mirrors, reflecting the column of light vertically into the sky. On a clear night the light is said to reach 13,000 feet.
On a personal note, Liz and I were married in Reykjavik one year ago tomorrow, so we like to think the light also marks our wedding anniversary. Today we have the song Tin Anniversary by The Gazetteers. Happy Friday!
MP3 of the Day
On this day in 1959 the Soviet space probe Lunik 3 successfully transmitted the first ever photographs of the far side of the moon. Though the pictures were rather poor by later standards, the historic, never-before-seen views of the moon’s far side caused excitement and interest when they were published around the world. Today we have Dream About The Future by The Apples In Stereo from the album Travellers In Space And Time.
MP3 of the Day
On this day in 1988 the movie Return of the Killer Tomatoes! was released in Australia. A sequel to the 1978’s Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, this story was set 25 years after the events of the first film. Today we have the song A Life More Ordinary by the Scottish band The Felt Tips.
Tullycraft Tuesday
It’s been a while since we’ve featured a Tullycraft cover that was sent to us, but today seems as good as any to revisit Tullycraft Tuesday. The Gloombuttons are Rachel and David. I’m told they started writing songs together after seeing Tullycraft at the Athens Popfest. I can only assume this must be because they thought to themselves, “Gosh, if this terrible band can put out records, we certainly can!” Today we have Every Little Thing by The Gloombuttons. Enjoy! Perhaps this will inspire other bands to send us their own versions Tullycraft songs for future installments of Tullycraft Tuesday.
Sad Day
Legendary television producer Stephen J. Cannell died yesterday at age 69. Cannell created or co-created nearly 40 television shows in the 70s and 80s including The Rockford Files, The A-Team, The Greatest American Hero, and 21 Jump Street.
We were big fans, and on the second Tullycraft album, City Of Subarus, we gave props to Mr. Cannell on the song Ticket Tonight.
“Roll the stone and rock the file for Stephen J. Cannell!”
MP3 of the Day
On this day in 2004 Chris Munford had a small gathering at his house and together with some friends Tullycraft recorded the song Molly’s Got A Crush On Us. A recording of this event/song appeared on the Disenchanted Hearts Unite album. Click here if you would like to see video of this infamous vocal party. Happy Friday!
